Vienna

We are back from our trip to Vienna, Austria. We got to see a lot of the city as well as Matt and Kathi get married!! It was a great time and a beautiful wedding. It's still hard to believe that my little brother is married (not really so little but those of you who have younger siblings know what I'm talking about).

We did a lot of walking, which was tiring for me, but probably good also. We saw the city center (shopping area), Stephansplatz church, Hofsburg Palace, Belvedere Palace, the Prater (an amusement park with a modern rides as well as a really old ferris wheel), Schonbrun Palace and zoo (the oldest zoo in the world), and ate a lot of good food. Kaan and I enjoyed doughnuts on Friday until our stomachs couldn't take them anymore. On Saturday we ate Chinese. On Sunday Matt and Kathi took us all to breakfast for Mother's Day and brought mom and I flowers. It was really nice. On Sunday night we went to a Turkish restaurant for dinner with two of Kathi's sisters and their spouses. While we ate dinner we got to watch the Turkish football/soccer matches and watch our team, Galatasaray, win the Turkish Super League (the equivalent of the Super Bowl). It was really exciting as the championship came right down to the last week of matches. You actually would have thought we were in Turkey and not in Austria, but everyone had a good time. The wedding was on Monday and so we were with family and friends all day. Kathi has such a nice family and it was good to get to spend time getting to know them (thank goodness some of them speak English). Well, I'm going to post some pics of the trip after this post, so enjoy!
