Kaan left on Saturday with his parents to drive to Burdur, Turkey to serve his military time. The drive was about 9 hours from here. They drove all day, spent the night in Burdur, and dropped Kaan at the military base on Sunday morning. Kaan was able to call on Sunday 2 different times to check on us and his parents. He seemed to be doing pretty well. I can only imagine what he looks like in his uniform! Today he called us once in the late afternoon. He was doing well, thankful to have heat on in the barracks, and pretty up beat all around. It's great to hear his voice even if it's once a day for a few minutes.
The kids are missing their Baba, but we made a countdown calendar so that helps make it a little more visual for them. My brother and Kathi arrive tonight to stay with us for almost a week. Mom will be here on Thursday to stay for 10 days. I'm looking forward to having my family around to keep me and the boys company while Kaan is gone:))
