FULL Day of "Fishing" Fun!!

Kaan loves fishing! He fishes with a pole or a spear gun, it doesn't matter. He usually spends at least one day of the weekend or part of a day fishing. So, it's no wonder that our boys have been BEGGING to go fishing! Yesterday Kaan chartered a little boat and the whole family was off at 7am to see what we could catch. We had snacks, toys for Atakan in case he got bored, and my iPad for me to read a book if I got bored. The boat captain must have gotten us in a good spot because before long we had lots of nibbles and started pulling up fish! I think over the 5 hours or so (it went really fast!!) that we were out we ended up catching about 15 cipura (sheepshead) that weighed in around 1.5 kilos after being cleaned! Atakan did get a little bored and played with his toys for about 15 minutes and ended up taking a little nap but overall did great! I didn't need my book at all and enjoyed time just in the quiet and looking out at the sea. Ilkan was in heaven and got to pull in a lot of the fish for his Baba and the captain. He even did a great job cleaning all of the bait shrimp and picking up the fish that didn't make it into the bucket when tossed! (Let's just say I was jumping and trying to make sure I didn't have to touch anything!) After we got off the boat we headed to a local fish restaurant where we get fish frequently and they cleaned and cooked everything for us, along with preparing some shrimp, calamari, and a salad. Then we were off to our home where Kaan's parents and sister met us to eat our catch! After a late lunch we hit the pool in our complex and were convinced that not only do the boys love fishing, and eating fish, they are also "fish" themselves! We were both dying of laughter watching the two of them dive in and swim underneath our legs and resurface behind us! Let's just say that after the pool and showers we were all in pj's by 7pm! The boys were passed out on the couch around 8:30 so I'd say it was a pretty successful day!!
