Sunnet

Yesterday Ilkan had his sunnet, or circumcision. I know, many of you in the states are thinking, "You waited this long to get the poor kid circumcised?" In Turkey, a lot of people actually get their little boys circumcised between 5-7 years old and then there is a big party for the little guy, it's a cultural and religious tradition. It's kind of like becoming a man. The little boys wear a crown and a cape and they are king for a day. Actually, when Kaan had his sunnet he was about 7 and rode around Mersin on a big white horse before the procedure and the party. Yesterday, our little Ilkan rode on a red rocking horse/moose similar to his Daddy. Here is a picture of Ilkan riding his horse. He slept through the procedure (it was his nap time), had some local anesthetic, and it was over in like 10 minutes. He actually hasn't been too grumpy, considering. We hope to have a party for him when he is a little older, probably around 5 years old.
