My First Airplane Ride

Today Ilkan is taking his first airplane ride. We are going to Istanbul for the weekend to hang out with Erman, Rachael and Keegan. It will be really nice for Kaan and I to get out of Mersin/Adana for the first time since May when we were in Vienna for Matt and Kathi's wedding. I weighed Ilkan earlier this week by stepping on the scale myself and then holding him. He weighs about 11 pounds now. His neck is getting really strong and can hold his head for long periods of time. He has been able to hold his head up since he was about 2 weeks old but it would get tired and flop every 5 seconds or so. Now he can hold it up for at least a minute. Not much else new.
We have our dates figured out for the states. We'll be in KC on Friday, December 1st (late) and to Omaha on Monday, December 4th. We'll be in Omaha until Friday, December 8th. We'll be leaving that morning to go to McCook for the weekend. All of my mom's family is meeting up there. It will be a rare occasion for everyone (minus Matt and Kathi) to be together. We are in Turkey, Mom and Gregg are in Jacksonville, Grandma and Grandpa are in Pheonix, my aunt's family is in Seattle, and my uncle's family is in Dallas. We are all spread out!! After McCook it is on to Jacksonville and then New York. We are very excited!!
I'll let you know how our trip went on Monday. Hopefully Ilkan likes airplanes since we have a huge airplane trip in 7 weeks!

If Omaha includes a visit to the thriving metropolis of Maryville . . . then I hope Mr. Ilkan and his wonderful parents will pay a visit to Uncle Richard.
